  1. I just have a short cmment to make on truancy, Is it considered truancy if your child is sick and you lost your home and everything in it in a major huricane, you have no place to stay, and were living with someone else and had to take care of an elderly person, before tending to your own affairs. My child missed 11 days, and most of them were because of sickness or the storm. I am by no way a bad parent. In fact, I recently returned to school to get my GED to show my children that education is important. So why should parents who are concerned about there children be subjected to this. I could see if my child was failing but she is not!!!

  2. Subject: education

I watched the rerun of your program tonight, 7/22/09,
and would like to make the following comments.

I would like a copy to be forwarded to the state supt. of education and social services.

Why not have a program making the guardians involved. If you have a child who is interferes with
the education of others called the guardian in and advise them that the child is misbehaving and that
it is their problem if they do not listen and pay attention to the teacher. If the behavior continures then they will have to attend class to correct the childs behavior.

Also I am sure that a lot of the parents are drop outs and are on welfare. Why not bring them in, and for every ten children, hav one of them baby sit, while the others attend class and improve their education. I am sure that many would actually be glad to do this. They would be there and if the child misbehaves call the parent in. This will also lighten the welfare service as many of these parents will then be able to obtain jobs.

For children 8 to 12 grades make if necessary for them to attend some type of training such as the one at Carville if they are problem makers. I seen many of these children, who admit after going through training that it was exactly what they needed.

The Governor is fortunate to bring in buisiness however how long will they stay if we do not have a proper work force.

The State is probably looking into ways to keep our graduates in state. Why not have some type of program whereby the would be able to deduct say 10 or 15% of their education loans if they stay in state after graduation.

Just some thoughts on my part.

I am a care giver for my wife and have to go and care for her so I ask that you kindly ignore any errors in the above.

    God Bless
